Post Office CTT

Monsanto post office is halfway uptown next to the Junta de Freguesia and Adega Tipica.

Open Mon – Fri 9 – 13h and 14 – 17 h

Setting up your post box

If you don’t have a street address and want to receive post near your house, find the nearest cluster of existing postboxes (has to be on tarred road) and install your postbox there. Mark it with the address that will appear on your mail (i.e. name, name of quinta/land, name of area, postcode).

I’m told it is no longer necessary to tell the post office you’ve set a box up. However, if you are not on an established post route (no other post boxes), enquire at CTT.

Parcels arriving by CTT

If your post box is not right by your house, CTT will drop a notification in your post box when they have a parcel for you. Go to your post office with the notification and your ID to collect it, between the day following the date on the note and 1 week later. If you leave it longer than a week, they may send it back to sender.

Parcels arriving by courier

If you can ensure the delivery driver has your phone number and the means to call you when s/he approaches, your best bet is to meet them e.g. at the bank/pharmacy junction.

If this fails, they may leave your parcel at any local shop or cafe, with Adelina’s shop being the most likely. Track your parcel and collect it as soon as you have reason to be believe it’s been delivered.
